COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course explains the architecture of new P2MP GPON based access technologies, used in the passive FTTH, the most common deployment for next-generation services. It highlights the working mechanism of GPON, the protocol in charge of upstream and downstream transmission, GPON frames and priority of services assurance, discussing also the design of PON network, like typical optical power budget and splitting ratio according to the distance and the users’ number, covering the evolution of protocols, and the improvements provided by XGS-PON and the Next-Generation (NG-PON).
